Day off tomorrow as no All Weather,be back for Monday.

Wolverhampton for Saturday

Three for today as chances are few and far between . Backs to lay for your percentage play.

2:15 Wolverhampton An interest is shown in Souter's Sister here as feel it is quite a mediocre listed race and she ran well in a conditions race in her comeback from 16 months off. Previous to this she was easily upto this class as a two year old, but has obviously been injured.Yet showed last time she retains some of her ability.Although usually held up , with Mr Botti in fine form, and the fillies allowance ,looks a 10% back to lay.

3:25 Wolverhampton I cannot imagine why Black Dahlia has been dropped back into handicap company, when it is plainly obvious that they can win some black type in a weak listed race somewhere in the future. My thinking on the situation is that they think that she can win it, as a run round to aquire a lower mark is not essential, and therefore the 10's + on offer is terrific value and will be a decent back to lay.

4:35 Wolverhampton Quite a tight handicap here and i just feel Ebraam is on a mark where he could be in contention got a decent draw if he is ridden prominently , but can also be held up.The booking of Jimmy Fortune looks a positive and i would think a good double figure price should be available.

Have a great day and keep your bank intact for the weeks ahead ....

My own bullish nature won the day today , a little peeved that Chjimes was pulled (the draw, the draw). So went to town on the last selection matching at 40+ and getting out at 10.

6:20 Wolverhampton Moonlight Serenade BSP 16.75 low IR 16.5 traded out pre off

7:50 Wolverhampton Justcallmehandsome BSP 20.73 low IR 4.10 i recorded a low of 3.1 for £74

Back on later with a look at Wolverhampton for Saturday.........

Thursday 11 March 2010

Wolverhampton for Friday

Three as promised, should all be double figure prices and hopefully easy to get the required percentage.

Backs to lay for your percentage play .............

5:50 Wolverhampton Two runs back now after a break nice little livener in a claimer last time , have an inkling Chjimes will run well tonight, likes to be prominent  and is well weighted on some of his best form. Negative being the draw hoping his prominent style can overcome this. May just have a squeak as 1,2,3&4 are all hold up which increases his chances. Double figure would be required and shouldn't be a problem as alot is made of the draw here.

6:20 Wolverhampton Moonlight Serenade has a 5lb pull for 5 and a 1/4 lengths on her last meeting with Turf Time over c&d and although this doesn't put her infront it puts her closer and as a prominent racer at a decent price is the selection in the hope she has been hiding her quality at home.Minimum trade.

7:50 Wolverhampton Justcallmehandsome back down to last winning mark , which happened to be over c&d, is the one here. A front runner on his best form , a negative in the draw again but hopefully the mile should negate this. Double figures for 15% trade.

Considering the time put in studying will put today down as a loss, although a v.small profit was made overall.
Profit is profit , but doesn't feel that way when you spend time to see your work nearly go under in the first race. Here are the results -

4:00 Lingfield  Phai Mai Blue BSP 3.94 low IR 1.91       Bollywood Style BSP 28.5 low IR 34 Made a mistake by trading both , loss on the race. Even though 4 lengths covered 10 horses.

4:30 Lingfield Jord BSP 8.8 low IR 5.6

5:00 Lingfield Vhujon BSP 4.55 low IR 2 All 4 you could have made 20% + on.

6:30 Wolverhampton Ishia Dancer BSP 7.26 low IR 7.2 freely avalable 8+ pre off.

8:00 Wolverhampton Alqaahir BSP 14 low IR 2.44

8:30 Wolverhampton Corrib BSP 30 low IR 24         Almatlaie BSP 123.79 low IR 95 double trade for pennies. Sworn Tigress proving that she could be anything.

Tuesday 9 March 2010

Lingfield and Wolverhampton for Wednesday

Three from each , Backs to lay for your percentage play.....

4:00 Lingfield Felt as though Saddlers Bend had found her level last time but will again be prominent and with Louisade ( who went close today ) and Top Flight Splash ( close off this mark last twice ) in the race value can be found elsewhere. One that interests me today is Bollywood Style usually runs prominent and given a chance by the handicapper after being hampered and left short of room last time over 6f. Back to 7f today and with Saddlers Bends pace for a tow along should give a good account of herself. May double trade with Phai Mai Blue here as it came back to form last time and as a horse who likes to come off the pace may be suited by conditions.

4:30 Lingfield King Canute looks the obvious improver and led nearly all the way last time , but may not have it all his own way today off this lifetime high mark.Lopinot looks a miler and hasn't really ran a good race over 7f for an age.I think i will side with Jord here as is on a decent mark , likes to run prominently and has ran better than form figures suggest. Will look for a double figure price.

5:00 Lingfield With Sherjawy and Wotashirtfull guaranteed to set a good pace upfront i am hoping that Vhujon can optimise his decent mark. Wotashirtfull still above last winning mark, Sherjawy wrong at the weights and be very surprised if winning and Step It Up still above last winning mark are all capable and realistically with such a small field anyone of the runners could probably be used for a small percentage trade.

6:30 Wolverhampton Ishia Dancer looks a good back to lay here , with Cheviot likely to be short despite his seasonal debut. The selection likes to lead and despite a rise in the weights the conditions of the race set up indicate a price drop IR .

8:00 Wolverhampton Alqaahir still looks on a winnable mark could get an easy lead in this field and was suited by the distance and only beaten a head last time over c&d , and is only slightly higher in the weights. With a number of ponderables about the other runners a decent run looks on the cards.

8:30 Wolverhampton Sworn Tigress could be anything and the rise in weight may not stop her.Kirsty's Lad likes to lead and will give the Tigress something to think about upfront. Two that i will play here, only for small stakes, are Almatlaie and Corrib .Both hold up and on marks where they can play a hand.

4:10 Southwell  Madison Belle BSP 8.4 Won

4:40 Southwell  Moyazada BSP 10.61  low IR 10

5:10 Southwell Vogarth BSP 42.81 low IR 12

5:40 Southwell Royal Envoy BSP 20.90 no lower IR (23)

Back on later with a look at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

A look at Southwell for Tuesday..

Reading through the form of this card was like pulling teeth tonight and a word of caution to anybody playing these selections. Keep it minimal there will be better days and to be truthful i will play these as i see fit come race time as it really is an awful card.

Five for today that i have eeked out ... Backs to lay for your percentage play.

2:10 Southwell Will be interesting to see how short Hitches Dubai is ? But after a 216 day lay off could be a tad ring rusty and was well beaten off a similar mark on his handicap debut.Sir Nod won well on his seasonal debut and is still on a mark that he can be competitive on. Where's Reiley although loving the course and on an upward trend looks high enough in the weights now, First Swallow 8lb better off for a length. The selection here is Spic N Span a horse that likes to be prominent has the c&d form and won off this mark back in July. A very competitive starter , one in which a 10% trade would be my maximum play and would want a double figure price.

4:10 Southwell Looks like Fuzzy Cat will be favourite for this , but an interest is shown in Madison Belle back down to 6f likes to lead has the c&d form and a scan of her form shows that her last three 6f handicaps here have produced an 8th off a much higher mark, a 4l seventh and a win off a similar mark to today. Not inspiring but the booking of Hanagan looks a plus. Again 10% trade on what looks a decent back to lay.

4:40 Southwell Xpress Maite is dropping to a mark he will soon take advantage of , just not sure it will be over a mile and therefore is discarded today. Mozayada has been knocking on the door and remains on the same mark as last time when a length and a quarter second over c&d and in an uninspiring race is taken as the one for the back to lay.Bolodenka is the worry as his turf form is far superior to any of these.

5:10 Southwell There will come a point when Vogarth decides to put his best foot forward as he is now below his last two winning marks and the return to 7f should see him in a better light , can run both ways , has the c&d form and will be a minimal play once again.

5:40 Southwell Don't think Don Pele, although a c&d under his name, shows his best form here . Royal Envoy who can run both ways is selected in the hope he takes a prominent role in proceedings is on a mark where he should be competitive and once again a minimum trade is advised.

Very Gluck

A look at Lingfield for Monday....

Up nice and early tonight , three from Lingfield to back to lay for your percentage play...

2:40 Lingfield There is no doubt that Miss Lesley will be prominent throughout and may even win , but the price will dictate to me regarding the trade or not . Anything 4+ plus will give me a little value.

3:50 Lingfield Funnily enough i looked at this race on Friday and now it has cut up isn't as straight forward as it was back then .......... Fine Silk and Orange Pip have both led up before , today i expect Fine Silk to lead at a fast pace with Orange Pip in it for a blow out(although if fit is weighted to be on the premises).White Shift has ran both ways before and is in form , would have a go with Fazbee but i think she will probably be favourite. The latter two horses are the hold ups really. This now leads me back to Orange Pip hopefully the price will be right and from a back to lay perspective runs the right way. On original inspection on Friday i thought the race had too much pace and was going to opt for the hold ups but now with the withdrawals have changed my opinion on the race set up.

5:30 Lingfield Duke of Rainford and Dower Glen both have a 3lb turnaround with Exceed Power on their 19th of February running.Dower for a length and Duke for 2 and a half. Dower Glen is obviously best off and as this was his seasonal reappearance you would expect him to improve and win or bounce and at the prices i will not chance it.  Annia Galeria has been dropped again and led up in that race ,has an 8lb pull for the 8+ length but was eased when beaten, if a double figure price is on offer a back to lay of her will be the play. Will probably keep an eye on Pavement Games who has been knocking on the door and finishing well each time , showing ability , you just feel her time will come.

Friday, Backs to Lay at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

Four from Lingfield and two from Wolverhampton , 10-20% Backs to lay..

1:20 Lingfield Bilberry went very close last time under the penalty and is now a 1lb better off with Waterloo Dock for the 27th run. Still on the same mark should go close but may be too short. Jonnie Skull is 7lb better off from that run for 3 and a 1/4 l . Kipchak ran well last time and has won off this mark before, but as i mentioned that day he was the only prominent racer in that field whereas today there is plenty of pace. I will take a chance here with Phai Mai Blue who is really the only hold up horse in the race and is back on a winning mark, has won over c&d in a class 4 so the class 5 today could prove within his capabilities.

3:00 Lingfield Layla's Lad ran well off this mark last time at Kempton over todays distance hampered when starting to challenge and losing out by a length in third. Prominent racer and hopefully with the presence of Azlak we should get a decent price.

3:35 Lingfield Brynfa Boy although under a double penalty is still lightly raced and probably improving but i would think the price will be very short. Edith's Boy has a 9lb turnaround with Brynfa for 5 lengths on their 20th of Jan running but i would say still a touch high in the weights.Fromsong has 4lb on that same running for a length and a 1/4 . One thing is guaranteed here again and that's pace with Thoughtofstardom(a tad high in weights still) Edith's Boy and Fromsong in the race. This may just be set up for Figaro Flyer although not running badly has crept down the weight to just below his last winning mark and i feel can take full advantage of this strong pace.

4:45 Lingfield Will be interesting to see how Kersivay runs as the change of tactics last time (lead) obviously did the trick and is still on a viable mark. Stanley Godspeed although under a double penalty will still be competitive if he gets the pace set up by something else. My selection here is chosen in the hope that Kersivay reverts to hold up and Sapphire Prince can slowly wind it up from the front sees out a mile (this is 7f) is on a winnable mark, likes to be prominent and was just seen off last time by a well handicapped Binnion Bay.

5:35 Wolverhampton There is no doubting Cape Royal will lead and a ten percent trade is viable. Desperate Dan is another that likes to be prominent but drawn in 8 may struggle to get across. With Misaro and Monte Major on the pace also may just set it all up for Kingsgaite Castle.

8:35 Wolverhampton With Well of Echoes and Sworn Tigress in the field i may get a decent price about Desert Fairy has taken them along in her past two races and can do so again tonight there is no doubting she is on a winnable mark it's just how much more improvement the aforementioned have left in the tank.

Gluck with your percentage plays..

Shame about the first and a strange BSP on Espy as the bot got 6.48.

3:10 Southwell Lucky Mellor BSP 3.21 low IR 3.1 unmatched a poor start...

5:10 Southwell Miss Bootylishes BSP 3.98 low IR 1.9  and General Tufto prediction bore out.

5:20 Wolverhampton Micky's Knock Off  BSP 5.8 low IR 1.51

5.50 Wolverhampton  Espy BSP 5.07 low IR 4.7

6:20 Wolverhampton Red Somerset BSP 19.5 low IR 11.5

8:20 Wolverhampton Mountain Pass BSP 19.61 Won  Almatlaie ran well enough to trade also.

On later with a look at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Southwell and Wolverhampton Backs to Lay

A few for your perusal .... Backs to Lay for your percentage play

3:10 Southwell  Lucky Mellor Returns to the scene of his last win and since incurring the penalty for that win has shown that another victory is within his grasp. Can run both ways but is usually prominent a price of 6+ should be enough to secure a 10% trade.

5:10 Southwell Miss Bootylishes was a 1/2 length second off this mark over course and distance a few runs back , likes to be prominent and has the c&d form. General Tufto at 7/4 is laughable and must be opposed after another 6lb rise.

5:20 Wolverhampton Micky's Knock Off  down in class , after two return runs , should be at his peak . Raced prominently last time and think he could make a bold bid today.

5:50 Wolverhampton  Espy is still a 1lb better off for the beating he handed out to Bentley and Obe Gold on the 15 th of Feb at a price of 7+ will be my back to lay here.

6:20 Wolverhampton  Red Somerset looks to have been overlooked in the early betting exchanges and there is some value in this back to lay. Only 1/2 second last time in a class 4 the handicapper has dropped him a touch today and that should represent an opportunity . Likes to be prominent and most of his good form has come at this course.

8:20 Wolverhampton Mountain Pass is the play here , has been ridden both ways in the past but mostly hold up, but is on a mark that he can be competitive from and also with Saddlers Bend in the race gives us a larger price. Will be interesting to see how Almatlaie runs back down to this class .

A steady day all matched up except for Whiskey at Kempton if i had been " live " would probably have left it as the price was too short for the size of the field. But as i am a working man, beggars cannot be choosers or something along those lines.

Wednesday 3 March 2010

Wolverhampton and Kempton for Wednesday

Four from Wolverhampton and just the one at Kempton today  .....

Backs to lay for your percentage play .........

2:30 Wolverhampton Spoof Master has been left on the same mark as last time and his running style always puts him in with a chance on the back to lay front.A price of 5/6 would represent a bit of value but i can see him being shorter. Muktasb rears his head again but comes out on worse terms than last time out with Spoof Master.

5:00 Wolverhampton Kheley is now back down to a winning mark again , likes to lead and has the c&d to her name . Probably a 10% back to lay, dependant on price. Showed last time that a return to form was imminent.

5:30 Wolverhampton Smalljohn has won off this mark previously and is going for his hatrick i deserted him last time when he won and will today also. Johnmanderville has won over 7f also sees out 8/9f . Had a pipe opener on the 15th and back down to a tad above his last winning mark, likes to be prominent and the Wilson stable have hit a bit of form recently with 4 places and a winner in the last week or so.

6:00 Wolverhampton Well of Echoes and Saddlers Bend both come with double penalties and amateur jockeys ( well it is an amateur race ) the point being they will need some riding to defy the penalty. Selected  here is Laureldeans Best down to her lowest mark and although 7 th in a class 5 last time was only 3 & 3/4 of a length off the winner . Shortened in trip today with a decent amateur up likes to be prominent, will be my choice as a back to lay.

6:45 Kempton Whiskey Junction should go very close here , dropped in class , a 3/4 length 3rd last time after leading up , off the same mark today and has the c&d form .

Here's hoping to a successful day

Lingfields Tuesday Plays

Geez that's all you need, log on to find that the RP site goes down at 10 pm and you have a deadline to meet !! Luckily started early tonight as need some shut eye.

Anyway three for today, these could prove awful or absolutely inspired....Backs to lay for your percentage play......

3:40 Lingfield There is no getting away from the fact that Peak District remains on a winnable mark but is by passed today as he has never won over 6f. Secret Witness could lead although usually ridden as a stalker but although close a couple of times has never won off this mark. From a back to lay perspective dependant on price i think in this field of hold ups i will select Lucky Redback on a winnable mark has raced prominently before and if fit stands a chance of an easy lead, if not fit may still go hell for leather and it be treated as a blow out. At 5-6+ will take a chance. Orpsie Boy would come into the reckoning if ridden prominently for a change. As the only time recently that he has, ran a great race, all ifs and buts about Orpsie though.

4:10 Lingfield An amazing debut by this horse over a mile when stumbling 5f out  and still coming home within 3 lengths of the winner. This show of ability was well covered on his second start when stuffed at the back and then when gaining taken wide round the bend. First time out this year was given a blow out over 9f when chasing leader to 2f out and then "blowing up" and fading. Could today be the day , i love a conspiracy theory and will be backing to lay Spice Fair in this one. A double figure price will be required but i am expecting a big run. EW also. A half length infront of Thundering Home on debut - a horse that has won a class5 off 70 and a narrow defeat in a class 4 off 75. There be value at leafy. :)

4:40 Lingfield Imperial Skylight has his in and out days as most of Channons horses do. But he likes to race prominently and is on a mark that gives him a chance the booking of Catlin after the poor run last time looks a positive and a high single figure price or double is expected.

May the prices go low

Sunday 28 February 2010

A look at Wolverhampton for Monday .

Wolverhampton has recently come to the fore as my favourite card to look through as always seem to have the races i need. 4 races looked at tonight with 5 selections. So here are the Backs to Lay for your percentage play :-

2:10 Wolverhampton  Many pace horses in this race so we have to look at it from a "whats going to go close" perspective. Punching has been running well but most of his best form is at Southwell plus 5f seems on the short side for him.Total Impact is a good traveller in his  races and still looks to hold Desperate Dan on form, the latter only being 2lb better off for 2 lengths on 29th of Jan running. Grudge is interesting being 2 and 3/4 lengths and 2lb better off with Desperate Dan on their 12th of Feb meeting. Grudge also has a 3lb turnaround with Ingleby Star for 1 and a 1/2l  on their 8 th of Feb running . So in black and white that brings Grudge out on top of those 4 but on a mark that he has never won off.Lithaam and Bahamian Kid also come under this category. Something has to give and in my selection of Brierty i am going for a horse that can run both ways ,hold up or prominent, with a good draw and below his last winning mark in the hope that his 3rd over c&d last time represented a return to form.

3:10 Wolverhampton One would think Granny Mcphee will be a fairly hot favourite back at the scene of her fascile win on the 22nd of Feb . My selection Boo likes to lead and came very close off a similar mark in a class 4 over c&d on the 15th of Feb. with the helping hand of David Kenny can see this as back to lay material. Also think Ahlawy has a squeak but will stick with the one here.

4:10 Wolverhampton Dhhamaan likes to lead has ran a decent race over this distance off a higher mark and i will trade for the minimum amount here as think the horse is more suited to 7f and feel Hayley has regressed as a leading light amongst the jockey ranks lately. Just feel as though it may lead until the 1f pole and if a big enough price is available 10% should be viable.

5:40 Wolverhampton Marjury Daw has not been far off in her two runs since her winter break and also can run both ways handicapper dropped her a touch for her last run and she may take full advantage will double trade her with Wavertree Warrior as he is on such a good mark at the moment it is a case of when rather than if.

May the prices go low

Been very busy this weekend, although having time for the form study which has now become a ritual, the blog has taken a back seat as to postings. Still 3 out of 5 outright winners and 4 out of 5 trades within the 5 selections has proved that the form book with that little artistic impression does not lie.

Todays results cannot be fulfilled properly as for some reason the IR lows have not been published and i wasn't around during racing to take notes.
2:50 Kempton  Val C BSP 7.33 was matched at 10% on this one as wasn't particularly strong and nearly swayed back to Turf Time.

3:55 Kempton Kipchak BSP 6.08  Won  - 20% on this one as the race set up was spot on for this selection.

4:55 Kempton Gallantry BSP 7 Won -  Was quite surprised by the price here and with being hold up only played for 10%

Will be back on later with a look at Wolverhampton tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouraging comments - keep them coming.

A look at Kempton for Sunday

Just the three today ...........

2:50 Kempton Turf Time has a 4lb pull for a length with Rightcar on 3rd of Feb. running . Turf Time likes to be prominent and has been running consistently. I just feel as though there may be something else lurking amongst this lot and in Val C we have a stalker that has shown shades of ability and now on an all time low mark the drop in class may also make a difference.

3:55 Kempton Kipchak is the choice here may get an easy lead in this  field of hold ups and i should get a decent price for a percentage trade.

4:55 Kempton I will select Gallantry here as the value option as the top 3 at the weights are all pretty short , Gallantry although hold up could nick this down the outside here. Mcconnell is on a good mark but all his good form seems to come at Southwell.

A decent enough card at Lingfield and some of the better handicappers are starting to appear now. As it stands just have the two races with Backs to lay in. Have an enjoyable Saturday and will see you at results time....

3:15 Lingfield Bags of pace in this race with the likes of Thoughtsofstardom 3lb wrong in the weights,Colorus on his highest ever winning mark,Glamorous Spirit still capable of going close of this mark and Peak District below last winning mark all like to lead the way. I suspect the race will be set up for a closer and in Total Impact we may have that horse still on a decent mark in good form with himself likes the distance . I just have an inkling that Peak District may be held off the pace too and may double trade here for 10% on each.

3:50 Lingfield Think this rests between Jaconet and Arganil but would think Smarten Die may try to lead them. Arganil is actually 2lb better off for the 4 1/2l that he was beaten last time the two met in a listed event ,he has the race fitness and likes to stalk. But Jaconet likes to lead and for this reason i will play a small percentage trade on her.

An up and down day with everything matched but then getting drawn to Dundalk late on and losing a percentage of my days profit on the last two races ............... ridiculous really as i have learnt over the years it's no use going in blind, just a recipe for disaster, but so easily done.

2:30 Southwell Hypnotic Gaze BSP 4.13 low IR 4 left this one out and played Sadeek as thought it was rather low in comparison to General Tufto as they were fairly closely matched as mentioned in the preview.
Sadeek BSP  9.59 low IR 5 freely available at 14 + pre off and then gambled in the last 10 minutes or so.

3:40 Southwell Magic Millie BSP 10.61 low IR 6.4

5:10 Wolverhampton Tag Team BSP 3.35 low IR 2.42

5:40 Wolverhampton Methaaly BSP 20.60 low IR 16.50

6:10 Wolverhampton Bookiesindex Boy BSP 6.02 low IR 3.75

7:40 Wolverhampton Sonhador BSP 9.44 low IR 8.8 again was gambled pre off

8:10 Wolverhampton Decider BSP 9.01 low IR 8.4 again available at higher price pre off and fairly sure went below 7 IR

Have the Lingfield card done will post in a bit.......

Southwell and Wolverhampton for Friday

Will refrain from quoting early prices as generally out of kilter as to what they will be come pre off.

Seven in all , two from Southwell , a bit of a quiet afternoon followed by five from Sprintsville (Wolverhampton).

Backs to lay for your percentage play ..........

2:30 Southwell Hypnotic Gaze has been knocking on the door recently , likes to be prominent and meets General Tufto on 2lb better terms for the head beating over c&d 2 runs ago. Also sees out 9f so have a general feeling this will be there until the end . Sadeek well below his last winning mark and back to probably his best distance , also likes to be prominent , can put in a bold show also . May double trade depending on prices.

3:40 Southwell Magic Millie has a 5lb pull for the 3/4l she was beaten by Step To It over c&d last time , raced quite prominently that day , that was only her 5th race and improvement will be forthcoming. Hopefully get a price that isn't too short.

5:10 Kempton Was interested in Davids Mark here but he is a hold up horse and although on a winning mark, the big field and the fact that it is an amateur event put me off. Mister Incredible merits a mention as likes to be prominent only slightly above his last winning mark and in this 13 runner event , if at the right price may be able to steal a percentage here. The  negatives being that most of his best form has been at Southwell and his draw. All in all Tag Team will  be the play as has been knocking on the door likes to lead and has only just been ran out of it the last 3 times , his best effort of those being over c&d 2 runs ago. Price check needed.

5:40 Kempton One would think Billie Red will still lead this field but for how long is the question , he is on a career high mark now and in Methaaly meets a horse who is receiving 6lb for the 3/4 l beating on the 13th of February. Methaaly likes to be up with the pace too and will undoubtedly be there at the finish as only slightly above last winning mark now.

6:10 Kempton Bookiesindex Boy travels so well throughout his races he always attracts the eye of the in running punter more a stalker than anything. Now well below his last winning mark and it's just if he can be cajoled to get his head infront. Was only beaten a length last time when hampered at the start. As long as a decent price is available will back to lay for a well thought out percentage.

7:40 Kempton If Triskaidekaphobia is a large double figure price will play him as can lead this field  for 4f only a touch above his last winning mark now and last time showed the sort of form required. With Sir Loin ,the draw is awful, but there is bound to be some pace on and may set the race up for a closer . Sonhador can run both ways stalk or held up and is well handicapped at the moment and the pace could play into his hands.I would think Admiral Bond will be fav. as has gone very close the last twice.

8:10 Kempton Decider has been running very consistently recently and likes to be up with the pace , again a price check as anything 9+ would be playable .

Well after that lot feel as though i have gone further than most of the selections will tomorrow.

Review

A fairly successful day and have now some thinking to do as some selections are proving stronger than others and going very low in running . My thinking has always been between 10 & 20% of stake per trade and this has proved successful but as the bank has built there is now room for a wider range on the trades and the selections are proving the point. Obviously more risk is involved as some will not sink below the mark required thus losing total stake but i have always recovered from these positions with the strength of selection.

Maybe one to mull over for the future but will stick with what works for now.

The Results with my findings added :-

4.20 Southwell  Hits Only Jude BSP 5.06  Won  Available at 5.8 10 minutes pre off

4:50 Southwell  Kladester BSP 11.98 low IR 6.8 traded out pre off - was 7.4 at off

5:20 Southwell  Magic Haze BSP 9.11 low IR  7 Pre off high of 10.5 i recorded a 6.8 low

7:10 Kempton  Boldinor BSP 6.14 low IR 3.8 A pre off high of 9.2 backed down to 7 and below 5 mins before off.                          Spoof Master BSP 19.66 IR low of 1.08 Was available at 23 pre off .... nuff said.

7:40 Kempton  Little Pete BSP 4.84  Won  10 minutes before race was available at 7.8 backed down to 4.9 at the off.

8:10 Kempton  Mudhish BSP 13.44 low IR 12  Was available at 16 pre off , missed out here as was overly greedy , maybe proves a point as to the aforementioned comments.

Back on later with looks at Southwell and Wolverhampton .............

A look at Southwell and Kempton

Six in all for today , three from Southwell and three from Kempton.

Backs to lay for your percentage play ...............................

4:20 Southwell Wyatt Earp is still on a good mark , but i have my doubts as to his suitability to Southwells surface. Liked good - good to firm on turf and i just think this may be a persuasive enough argument to look elsewhere. Hits Only Jude is the selection here has the c&d form was knocking on the door over 7f last time and although never winning off this mark has had some close up seconds. Currently 5.2 on Betfair if i can secure 7 or above will be happy.

4:50 A bit of a standout here for me is Kladester. Off course for 8 months and returned to be 2 and a half length second at Wolverhampton 34 days ago , has a c&d win to his name . The only negatives are hold up and bounce factor. Currently 8.8 on Betfair could go alot shorter in my opinion. Mackintosh also has been knocking on the door lately and the drop back to 7f could do him a favour has ran both ways recently ( prominent and hold up ) currently 7.6 on Betfair. May double trade these as at least if Kladester did bounce would cover some of the staking.

5:20 Southwell Royal Crest gets 12 lb for the 8 lengths it was beaten last time from Isitcozimcool but i cannot see either of these winning. Magic Haze was ridden prominently last time has the c&d form and runs today off the same mark. Currently trading at 6.8 i would think a 2 point trade would be attainable here.

7:10 Kempton The race or should i say betting will probably revolve around Muktasb again as it's not an if it's just a when it will win. Spoof Master was the selection last time and will be here as he ran a perfect race for a back to lay , fast out and led until obviously tiring inside the last 1f. Boldinor is still of interest too as still on a mark that he has won off before, has the c&d form and likes to be prominent.Spoof Master currently 14 looks an easy 2 point option.

7:40 Kempton Little Pete looks the one here knocking on the door last two runs , seems to run his best races as a stalker, but the step upto 7f seems to suit and is well handicapped on some form. Hopefully the drop to a class 6 handicap will see him in a better light. Currently 7.4 so should be about the right price for the two point back to lay.

8:10 Kempton Clive Brittain seems to have hit the ground running for this time of year and in Mudhish has a likely candidate for a back to lay. Off the back of a good second over 6f last time and with some of his best form over 7f (tonights distance). Likes to be prominent and off this mark has a chance of being there to the end. Trading at 7.8 at the moment so around the right price for a trade.

Recovery Complete

Managed to scrape a v.small profit , if i had been greedy with the last a big profit. That i am afraid is not my style and small slow and steady is the game.

Here are the results:

2:10 Lingfield Bishopbriggs BSP 8.01 low IR 7.6 unmatched on this , as have already reported.

4:55 Lingfield Candyfloss Girl  BSP 6 Won

7:00 Kempton Methaaly  BSP 10 low IR 8  available 15/16 pre off , i recorded a low of 7.2 IR

8:30 Kempton Red Current BSP 24 low IR 1.5

Overall a pleasing day , with just the Bishopbriggs debacle to contend with psychologically.

On later with a look at Southwell and Kempton................

2:10

Failed to match on Bishopbriggs although running round in second most of the way, was being layed most of the time. I am afraid this is the side of racing that you have to decipher if you are going to get your trades correct. A little quote to prove the point -

They knew. Always needs to lead, has won off a higher mark, nothing to dismiss its chance. Yet they held it up off the pace today, the horse pulled all the way wanting to quicken up. Jockey held on to it and it found nothing. Lying 2nd and trading at 26 in running. They knew, the ******* cnuts!

Lets hope that i can recover with the other 3 ............ Gluck

Tuesday 23 February 2010

A look at Lingfield and Kempton for Wednesday

Two from each today as most of the races didn't suit ....................... Back to Lay for your percentage play.

2:10 Lingfield Bishopbriggs is still fairly well treated and goes for his hat-trick would think he will be fairly short and anything around 5's will do for a percentage trade. Likes to lead and one would think he will go fairly low.

4:55 Lingfield Candyfloss Girl is probably still on a mark that she can exploit and you would like to think she can improve for her first run of the campaign. Likes to be prominent and was only 3/4 of a length away on her reappearance. Has showed signs of petulance in the past so don't set your sights too high.

7:00 Kempton Methaaly showed enough last time to suggest he is coming to hand and can go close off this mark.Ran prominently last time but can run either way and currently at 7.6 on Betfair looks like a two point trade should be achievable. Obviously Sutton Veny going for the hat trick is the pace in the race but too short to trade and would think vulnerable under todays conditions.

8:30 Kempton Red Current is the selection here , likes to be up the front of things and just marginally above the mark of her last win. The mile seems to suit and has a fairly able jockey on board , which is always a plus in this type of race. Currently 13 on Betfair seems a value price and wouldn't be surprised to be traded out pre off tomorrow. Will take a watching brief for now to get a feel for the market.

An awful start , followed by the recovery ...........

3:40 Lingfield Gallantry BSP 20.84 low IR 19.5 No match here ........ he just got going too late only beaten 2 & a 1/4 lengths . I just took this one on the chin , certainly one to watch for though.

4:10 Lingfield Goodbye Cash BSP 7.98 low IR 6 available pre off for 8.4 +  easy match

4:40 Lingfield Diane's Choice BSP 9.71 Won
Spoofmaster BSP 20.55 low IR 6.2 these two were successfully double traded.

5:10 Lingfield Non runner

V.Small gain today thanks to the double trade , will be on later with a look at Lingfield and Kempton.

A look at Lingfield

Five for tomorrow, backs to lay for two points ........................

3:40 Lingfield Den's Gift has a 2lb pull for a length with Pegasus Again on 30th Dec. running. Gallantry has a 3lb pull for 3lengths. Pegasus Again and Den's Gift like to lead and i just feel the pace of the race will suit Gallantry who is now well handicapped and has been knocking on the door lately , has the c&d form and will be a playable price ( currently 13 on BF ).

4:10 Lingfield Goodbye Cash looks a good back to lay here back down to 7f likes to lead has the c&d form and although a tad higher than winning her last run has the ability. Currently trading at 10 on Betfair this looks a good price for a two point back to lay.

4:40 Lingfield One would think Muktasb will be after making amends for the failed gamble last time currently 4.3 and probably worth a chance at that price as you would think he will go low. Dianes Choice runs as a hold up and returns back to 6f and the distance of her last win is still well handicapped on previous form and will run her race.I quite like Spoof Master back to the mark where he ran Tanley to 1/2l over c&d 3 runs back , likes to be at the forefront of things and at 11 on Betfair at the moment looks a workable price. Infact will probably double trade Spoof and Diane both 11 at the moment.Price check in the morning. As a side note Obe Brave although winning last time currently trading at 6.8 looks a good lay to me hasn't won over the distance since April 06 and with the 6lb extra may struggle to get into race.

5:10 Lingfield After todays win Granny McPhee is trading as a very low favourite on Betfair but is not a definite to take part so early prices are out of the window. One that takes my eye albeit a rather chancey one is Blue Eyed Eloise on the same mark as when winning over c&d on her last run in April 08 . Obviously being off the course for 689 days puts a big question mark over her fitness but if fit and she likes to be up with the pace, i will secure a double figure price and a two point trade looks attainable.

Happy hunting and Gluck

Review

A very tough , on the first of my week long holiday, day overall . Nothing came easy and felt like i was fighting for everything. Throughout racing have jotted down some prices which i will put down alongside the usual format for results.

2:40 Wolverhampton Micky's Knock Off  BSP 4.8 low IR 4.2  The horse was available at a high of 10 for £4 but a more reasonable 9.6 for £900 pre off . I myself traded out pre race and recorded him at a low IR of 4.1 for £55 and 4.2 for £354.

3:10 Wolverhampton Sotik Star BSP 3.63 low IR 3.05  available at a high of 5.5 for £19 and £106 at 5 the recorded low was 3.05  . Left this one alone as was too low for how i felt it would run, but the 2 point spread was there for the taking if lucky enough to get the prices.........

4:20 Wolverhampton Mighty Mover BSP 20 low IR 16  avalable at a high of 25 for £5 and 22 for £145 pre off and went to a low pre off of 15.5 . Traded out pre off here.

5:55 Wolverhampton Blue Charm BSP 49.92 low IR 40 available as high as 55 pre off and i recorded a low of 32 IR

2:55 Lingfield Wavertree Warrior BSP 4.50 low IR 1.07 available pre off 4.9 £26 and 4.7 £1112

4.05 Lingfield Bobs Dream Flight BSP 7.8  low IR 7.8 available pre off as high as 12.5 £216 and 11.5 £1504 recorded a low of 7.2 IR . Traded out pre off again here but the major problem was the jockey held him up, obviously not a going day and will watch for him in future.

So although a profit everthing was governed by margins , not so sure i enjoy sitting live as letting the bot do the work. Think the major problem today in hindsight apart from Wavertree was the selections were not as strong or did not run as expected.

Will be on later with a look at Lingfield.............

Wolverhampton and Lingfield for Monday

Hope the meetings are on, i find there is nothing worse than putting in the hard work and never seeing if you were right or wrong.

Anyway four from Woverhampton and a couple from Lingfield for you to look over.

2:40 Wolverhampton I would think this will be a fairly open market with Lewyn at the head of it. Quite a few that can lead up, but my selection for a back to lay is Micky's Knock Off back below his last winning mark after a blow out on the 10 th of Feb. Could be spot on for today with a 17lb turnaround in the weights for 6l with Lewyn on their 16th of October running. My only reservation would be if the 5f will suit. A price check in the morning is required.

3:10 Wolverhampton Sotik Star could be the value here ,won over c&d last August , had two runs back this year failing by 2 and 3/4 lengths on his comeback run, then a run in a claimer to put him right. Hopefully i will get a high single figure price + . Usually ridden from the back making his move midway through the race is well handicapped on turf form and as previously mentioned is back to the scene of his last win.

4:20 Wolverhampton Mighty Mover in this one for me, has a c&d win to his name, likes to race prominently. He is below the mark when a 1/2l second and 2l second around this time last year and should give a good account of himself.

5:55 Wolverhampton Struggling to see the pace in this race, as most seem to be hold ups. In Blue Charm we have a horse that has been ridden both ways, usually prominently over 7f hold up over the mile. So i am hoping that he will be prominent today and could be spot on after his comeback run on the 8th of Feb. One would think Orangeleg will be favourite so hopefully i will get a bit of value here.

2:55 Lingfield There is no doubt that Wavertree Warrior will be there or thereabouts at the end but i wouldn't think that a workable price will be available. But again here can only see Wavertree as the pace in the race and could get a very easy lead and off this mark should be an easy percentage trade.

4:05 Lingfield Kingsgaite Castle has looked like he could win off this mark in his last two runs and with Sherjawy on an all time high mark. Looks as though Bobs Dreamflight could be the one here likes to lead on an all time low mark has the c&d form . A perfect back to lay really.

Gluck and let's hope racing goes ahead .......................

Southwell for Sunday

Opportunities seem few and far between today, either distance or make up of the race. So here are two that will hopefully do the business. Backs to lay for 2 points +

3:55 Southwell Plenty of pace in this race with Ishia Dancer and Bel Cantor & Hits Only Jude ( has never won over 7f ) , because of all the pace i feel i should look at the ones that come from off it and in Bennelong we have a horse whose form figures do not look spectacular but on closer inspection has not been far off over a mile recently and a strongly run 7f may suit. May pay to get an early price as with any Evans horse if they like its chances the money will come.

5:00 Southwell In Business Class we have a horse that seems to run fairly well here , the distance is right like to be up with the pace. The one negative is on the fitness side but i feel that either way will either hit the front and blow up or go on. Should be able to snatch two points.

Review ...... Phew !!

Glad to say that the backs to lay did well again , slightly let down by Basra. Decent priced winner too.

2:50 Lingfield Orchard Supreme BSP 52.66 low IR 15

3:20 Lingfield Gargano BSP 8.32 low IR 1.50

3:55 Lingfield Basra BSP 13.13 low IR 13.5

4:30 Lingfield Mint Whip BSP 16 Won

Basra put a slight dent in the profit - will be on later with a look at Southwell for Sunday.

Lingfield for Saturday

I originally came up with just the first selection on my trawl through this card . This was down to the fact i usually avoid maidens, claimers and races beyond a mile(unless a standout that has been followed), so in fact the races that are on this card were not suitable.Be very wary, as i will be, when taking any of the 3 latter backs to lay on as they do not come under the usual guidelines that i set myself. I have basically gone outside the usual criteria, which i occasionally do, to try and find some value on a poor card for the blog................

2:50 Lingfield  A bit of a shot in the dark with this one and only because it is so well handicapped now. Orchard Supreme can run both ways prominent or hold up, has the c&d form and interestingly came back from a similar break and won a class 2 last year off a superior mark.

3:20 Lingfield Was Gargano found out by the handicapper last time or Southwells surface . Likes to lead and realistically i should swerve the race altogether as 1m 4f leaves the back to lay option a wide open gamble. I feel here that if a price of 6+ can be achieved then it's worth the risk otherwise leave alone.

3.55 Lingfield Basra and December Draw met trouble in running last time. December Draw will most likely be too short a price for a back to lay . Basra as a hold up horse is also a liability but one i  feel will represent value and in a field with so few runners a two point back to lay can be attained.

4:30 Lingfield Mint Whip was selected last time and didn't let the blog down coming a close 4th. Once again i think she will be up with the pace and gives me a back to lay option, with her fillies allowance should give a good account.

Have a great Saturdays sport and Gluck

A great day with everthing  going to plan and two winners in the mix also

1:55 Lingfield Non Runner

2:25 Lingfield Bollywood Style BSP 5.10 Won

3:00 Lingfield Towy Boy BSP 7.2 low IR 2.04

3:35 Lingfield Vintage BSP 3.38 Won,was available at 8 + last night on BF

5:15 Wolverhampton Young George BSP 15.68 low IR 10.5

5:45 Wolverhampton Paktolos BSP 7 low IR 5.2 drifted to 8 in running before hitting that low

8:15 Wolverhampton Glamour Cat BSP 5.36 low IR 2.52

On later with a look at Lingfield for Saturday .........................

Thursday 18 February 2010

Lingfield and Wolverhampton for Friday

Four at Lingfield and three at Wolverhampton for your perusal ....................... Back to Lay for two points.

1:55 Lingfield As stated 3 days ago Obe Gold hasn't won over 7f since January 06 and although consistently running well is obviously vulnerable over this distance.Interesting that Guillambert gets off Obe to ride Ravi River yet Ravi is wrong at the weights. Lastkingofscotland is the selection here likes to lead sees out a mile and his last run in this grade saw him a head second to Wrighty Almighty over a mile. Down a furlong today with Ravi and Obe at the head of the betting market should give us a decent price to play with.

2:25 Lingfield Bollywood Style has been knocking on the door recently and if a high single or double figure price can be secured she will be the selection here. Has the c&d form and has not been far off , off this mark recently. The reason a good price is to be secured is because of the horses running style , usually a stalker which sometimes leaves her open to trouble.

3:00 Lingfield Pipers Piping will probably be favourite to go in again , but i will side with the maiden Towy Boy likes to be prominent , has ran some of his best races over 7f and was made favourite, not surprisingly last time. That race was over 6f back to 7f today should do the trick for a back to lay.

3:35 Lingfield This race is all about where the value lies and a price check will be required . Fromsong is a pound better off with Thoughtsofstardom  for a 2l beating over 5f on the 27th of Jan , in the same race Handsome Cross was a 1/2 length second and meets Thoughts on the same terms.Fromsong likes to be prominent as does Thoughtsofstardom, Handsome Cross is hold up . On the other hand Vintage can be ridden to suit race conditions and is such a strong traveller throughout his races that he will be my selection . Marginally above his last winning mark looks the one for the back to lay here as 6f seems to suit.

5:15 Wolverhampton Turf Time and Exceed Power meet Duke Of Rainford on worse terms than when behind him on the 22nd of January.Lady Brickhouse is 2lb better off with Turf Time for a head.Think the betting will revolve around these 3 . Young George for me looks a lightly raced type that will possibly improve  likes to be up with the pace and at the prices should be quite tradeable.

5:45 Wolverhampton Don't really know what Paktolos' price will be ( currently 4.5 on BF ) i think his run over c&d two runs back  looked like he improved for the step up in distance and can see him going in again. Will back to lay but may be worth waiting until IR as he gets held up at the back. At 5 upward is worth a back to lay.

8:15 Wolverhampton Will be interesting to see how short Demonstrative goes as was impressive last time. The Glamour Cat was equally impressive first time up this year and you can only put its last run down to a bounce. This and handicap debutant Libertino interest me. Glamour Cat currently 6.6 on betfair will be the selection as that win looked easy and at the prices think there is value there.

We seem to be on All Weather over load at the moment with 2 meeting most days , although this offers up many oportunities i must be careful not to over do it.

Gluck and may those runners go short ...........

Review of the Day in a Hooverless house.

You can never trust a women to keep her meddling hands out - Mrs unplugged computer to hoover up this morning thus disabling the bot for backing the selections . So therefore missed all the Southwell selections. Not best pleased shall we say , especially with a selection of four other plugs in the room.

Apologies to any women that look in , your obviously not plug happy.

Here are the Bsp's and lows anyhow -

1:50 Southwell Patachou BSP 6.47 low IR 5.8 probably would not of matched up here.

2:20 Southwell Boss Hog BSP 5.2 low IR 3.05

4:05 Southwell Guto BSP 16.09 low IR 7.6 Figaro made the two points although left this out.

6:00 Kempton Midnight Bay BSP 5.1 low IR 2.1

7:00 Kempton Goodbye Cash BSP 14.45 low IR 8.2

8:00 Kempton Non Runner

Not a bad afternoon , missed the only one probably not to match, although i don't know what price it was earlier . So onto tomorrow , will be on later with a look at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Wednesday 17 February 2010

Southwell and Kempton for Thursday

Three from Southwell and three from Kempton . Backs to lay for 2 points.

1:50 Southwell If Taper Jean Girl is ridden in her usual way i cannot see her getting a mile at Southwell. So i will take a chance here as nothing is over inspiring on Patachou obviously after a lenient handicap mark on its 3rd run when showing nothing over a mile. The second run is the one that interests me. Over 7f  no clear run when switched, kept on to be a 2 and 3/4 length 3rd. The mile should suit and the price should too.

2:20 Southwell Boss Hog is well handicapped now, won in February last year and can be given a chance in this 6 runner affair. Usually stalks just behind the leaders and i think a two point trade will be attainable here. Miss Bootylishes will probably head the market.

4:05 Southwell Guto has a 10lb pull for the length and a quarter that Wheres Reilly beat him by on the 11th of Feb.La Capriosa has 9lb for 3 1/2 length. There are many in with a chance but i will go with Guto as i think Wheres Reilly will be a contender for favourite and on the above line alone that puts Guto in with a chance. Likes to race prominent and has the c&d form. Figaro Flyer also worth a mention as can stalk or held up and looks on a decent mark and coming to himself lately. Will price check but probably stick with Guto.

6:00 Kempton Midnight Bay looks to be on a winnable mark judging on his last two runs -2 1/4 length 6th over 10f and 3 length 2nd over 9f . Will the drop to 8f do the trick ? Likes to race prominently and seems to have just been run out of it the last twice.Should get a decent price with a couple of last time out winners in the race.

7:00 Kempton Island Sunset could be anything and may well make a mockery of its handicap mark. Interesting to note it was outpaced for a while over this distance on its last run. So if i was to play her i would probably wait and back in running hoping that she duplicated that race. 230 days off course is enough to make me look elsewhere. If the handicapper has this race spot on it will be very tight and i will take a chance on Goodbye Cash . Back down or should i say just below the mark that saw her run a fine 1 and a 1/4 length 3rd to Toolentidhaar over course and distance in January, she likes to lead and very often runs her race.

8:00 Kempton 3 runs since his return the last twice knocking on the door his running styles bodes well from a back to lay perspective , on the right mark to run a big one . Highland Harvest is the selection here.

Time for some shut eye , the studying of form and then putting the thoughts on the blog are taking there toll..

Gnight, Gluck

Review of the Day

Have had somebody track the prices today ( read from the graph directly after race ) as i dont think Timeforms low IR are perfectly accurate on the Betfair results page...

Anyway a great day with a lot of low prices matched every one realising the 2 point trade margin except the last , which i am still seething for attempting now ( should have been a lay ) i can only presume its burning the gallops up at home and not bringing it to the races..............................

4:00 Lingfield Forward Feline BSP 8.26 low IR 4   REPORT = 12 pre off , low IR 3.2 for £75

4.30 Lingfield Bid For Glory BSP 13.5 low IR 2.88 REPORT =14 pre off , low IR 2.88 for £90

5:00 Lingfield Captain Cool BSP11 low IR 9.4 REPORT = 10.5 pre off , low IR 6 apparently there was £35 matched at 5.1 but presume this was when the market was formed. As there was a gap in price range.

5:10 Kempton Sir Haydn BSP 9.84 low IR 5 REPORT = 9.4 pre off , low IR 4.7 for £85

5.40 Kempton R Woody BSP 7.76 low IR 5.6 REPORT = 8 pre off , low IR 5.6 for £72

6:10 Kempton Glamorous Spirit BSP 3.90 low IR 1.5 REPORT = 4 pre off , low IR 1.5 for £3793

7:10 Kempton Non Runner

7:40 Kempton Old Devil Moon BSP 5.86 low IR 5.1 REPORT = 6.8 pre off , low IR 5.1 for £911 Could not believe this was 2nd favourite , gave it a miss when taking prices this morning as was alot shorter than expected . Then like a mug went in for small change and got what i deserved. No match.

As you can see there are discrepancies on the In Running lows on some of the races but i will have to stick to these prices as a guide to how the horses did as there is no way i can be  " live " throughout racing to watch all the lows.

Will be on later with a look at Southwell and Kempton............

Lingfield and Kempton for Wednesday

Three from Lingfield and Four from Kempton with a chancer stuck on the end.....................

4:00 Lingfield My selection here goes a little against the grain in that it is a hold up horse, Forward Feline has been finishing well over 7f the last twice and gets the vote to be in the mix for a back to lay at the sharp end of the race . Tries a mile for the first time today and hoping may bring about enough improvement.

4:30 Lingfield After two runs back , Bid For Glory should be spot on for today usually ridden as a stalker 10f seems to suit has won as high as class 3 on the AW  albeit 2 years back . Showed last time with a 1l length 3rd over c&d that it retains some ability. Will be my back to lay , should get a reasonable price as Franco Is My Name i would think will be rather short.

5:00 Lingfield 2 3/4 length second in a class 6 first time up then made favourite for a class 4 over c&d last time makes Captain Cool a good looking back to lay receiving weight from the main protagonists. Last in that class 4 the fact remains that it must of been showing something for it to be made fav , i would think they may be after their money back today. With a Johnston handicap debutant in the field the price could be nicely playable.

5:10 Kempton Back below his last winning mark and even though it was May 09 last time he got his head infront Sir Haydn stands a chance today. Now 10 and devoid of any improvement the handicapper gives him a chance and with his regular amateur onboard will be an interesting back to lay.

5:40 Kempton R Woody back after a small rest , hasn't let me down so far so back in again. May get a bit of value here with Texas Queen in the race.

6:10 Kempton I know Absa Lutte is improving but Glamorous Spirit likes to lead and take it from the front has the c&d form and receives 9lb for a length and 3/4 on their 3rd of Feb run . I know this represents a good back to lay.Lord Of The Reins also has a 10lb pull on Absa Lutte on that running. I wouldn't want to put Absa Lutte down as a lay but with 2 in there weighted to get very close i think i have found the value options.

7:10 Kempton Ektimaal has won off this mark before although it was a couple of years ago has the c&d form likes to be prominent , i would think the price will be double digit as would have to be on top form to figure. Will give him a go .

7:40 Kempton As you may have realised by now i like to stick the odd weird and wonderful selection in now and again. So here is todays - why was Old Devil Moon made favourite for it's handicap debut ? Reading its form brings nothing to light apart from its always tried to be prominent and usually folded 1 to 2 f out. Fitness will have to be taken for granted but with a winter on its back to strengthen may just have improved.

Well there endeth the sermon , please leave any suggestions as to any improvements you would like to see on the blog or encouragement or even abuse if it all goes pear shaped..............

Review of the Day

Lost a little on the 2:00 as tried to double trade instead of sticking to the original selection.....

2:00 Southwell Angle of Attack BSP 8.02 low IR 1.41
Tri Chara BSP 15.61 low IR 15

3:00 Southwell Non runner

3:30 Southwell Elusive Fame BSP 6.55 low IR 4.50 Got very lucky here as was layed to indicate how it ran.

4:00 Southwell Bel Cantor BSP 7.15 Won

4:30 Southwell Thewinnatakesitall  BSP not published yet was a high of 30 pre off got out at 28 went as low as 20 pre off think it went 19 IR at least i don't have to retire today.

On later with a look at Lingfield and Kempton ........................

Selections For Southwell

Slow and steady Backs to Lay for a couple of Points

2:00 Southwell  Angle of Attack is the selection here, likes to lead and has been knocking on the door since his previous win over c&d . Interesting that there is not alot of pace in this race and it may therefore get an easy lead upfront. Tri Chara is now down to the mark of its last win and can run both ways ,one would think he could give a good account of himself today at a price where i could pinch a couple of points.

3:00 Southwell Obe Gold although very close a few time hasn't won over 7f since 26 th of january 2006 so there should be value elsewhere in this race even though he has been turned out quickly after sunday. Zeffirelli is a prominent racer although in and out form wise but may be a little short. Madison Belle a prominent racer who won over c&d the time before last and was unsuited by the mile last time . The drop back to 7f today should see her in the race. Kings Ace looks the one stepped back upto 7f and 4 lb better off with Madison for 3/4 of a length .

3:30 Southwell Elusive Fame is 9lb better off with Ours on 21st of jan run over c&d , likes to be prominent and seems to be well treated today this may lead to a restrictive price will check pre race.

4:00 Southwell Ingleby Arch throws up another that does not seem suited by 7f .Nightjar although consistent cannot seem to get his head infront off this mark. At least in Bel Cantor we have a horse that will be up with the pace and battle, his one recent run over 7f showed enough promise although 1 lb wrong here.

4:30 Southwell  I would think this race would revolve around Buzz Bird and Yawary . I will stick my neck out here as one that interests me is Thewinnatakesitall her best run imo came when 4l down in a maiden over 7 f on Heavy in August  since then ran a good race when 2nd in a 5f claimer at todays venue. 3 runs over 5f now stepped upto 7f rings bells in my head and was staying on over 5f last time. Not ran since mid december so fitness will have to be taken on trust. I will give it a go at a likely big price.   Warning I may be way out with this.

Well there you go 4 fairly solid selections and a fifth that may see me retire with embarassment.

Review

All matched up today though some did not run aswell as hoped.

2:10 Wolverhampton Meikle Barfil BSP 13.98 low IR 9.4

2:40 Wolverhampton Espy BSP 5.15 Won

4:10 Wolverhampton Johnmanderville BSP 9.8 low IR 8.Freely available at 12 pre off and sure it was matched below 7 in running but for the sake of the blog will stick with result service.

5:10 Wolverhampton Almatlaie BSP BSP 14.87 low IR 10 Again was sure this was matched as low as 8

Will be on later with a look at Southwell..........................

Sunday 14 February 2010

Wolverhampton for Monday

A few for you to muse over as possible Backs to Lay on Monday................................

2:10 Wolverhampton Meikle Barfil is the selection in this race only 3 and 3/4 l off the winner over 6f last time and back down to 5f here over c&d of previous win. Likes to be up with the pace but may be an awkward price. Another that caught the eye was Triskaidekaphobia with signs of coming back to form last time only problem here is the draw (10) and this puts me off.

2:40 Wolverhampton Some nicely interwoven form here with Jord,Obe Gold and Espy . Jord looked to come back to form last time and is a 1lb and the 1/2 l better off with Obe Gold but that was over 7f.Espy and Obe Gold come out level apart from the neck that Obe beat Espy by. So taking this in black and white i should go for Jord but my selection is Espy just on the draw advantage Espy (2) should get away nicely here and think the distance suits it better than the other two. Obe (9) and Jord (8) will leave them with some work to do. Would think prices will be closely matched.Sir Edwin Landseer is also a pound and 3 3/4l worse off with Obe on 30 th Dec running.

4:10 Wolverhampton An interesting race with a few imponderables and probably a few on a mark where they could run up a sequence, my selection here is Johnmanderville in the hope that its fit. Likes to be prominent and on all known form so far 8f seems to suit more than this 9f but as a four year old and maybe some improvement to come can see me getting a trade out of this one today. Would require double figure price i think.

5:10 Wolverhampton Dhhamaan led all the way last time but with the step up in class and  6lb ex may be value somewhere else today. Almatlaie  21st  run showed a little promise and is taken to build on this today. Lightly raced and trying 7f for the first time on the 21st was probably held up a tad too long and finished well to be a 1/4 l second. An ambitious selection but one that may pay off as expecting a decent price.

Will probably not get on pre racing as the 6 - 2 shift leaves little room for blogging pre racing.

Round Up

Overall a good day for the blog highlighting 2 winners and a second . Here are the final 2 results.

4:50 Kempton Titus Gent BSP 16.50 low IR 15  freely available over 20 pre off. Sharjawy the other one highlighted won but is of no consequence as the trade was realised by the selection.

5:20 Kempton Don Pele BSP 5.72 Won

Cannot believe Monsieur Filloux never went below 11.5 despite being 1/2 length second.

On later with a look at Wolverhampton for Monday.

Update

Unmatched on Monsieur Filloux which was a surprise as he snatched a place, just came too late.

On Titus Gent @ 20 left Sherjawy out

and Don Pele @ 7

Hopefully these 2 will match up after the bad start................

Pricecheck

15:10 Kempton Monsieur Filloux taking the 10's at the moment feel as though this will shorten pre off as Moojeh is currently 6.2

16:50 Kempton Sherjawy and Titus Gent Happy to leave these alone until nearer the off , keep a close eye on Sherjawy price though. Currently 7.4 and 16.5.

17:20 Kempton Don Pele currently trading at 10.5 , will keep an eye on this.

Kempton for Sunday

3:10 Kempton Monsieur Filloux is 3lb better off for 3/4l with Moojeh on there 21st december running(class 5). The run last time will have to be excused as it was a poor effort (probably bounced). Only worry here is it is a hold up horse , but will take a chance at 10 or better. Decent price should be available with Ocean Legend and Ejeed in the race.

4:50 Kempton Have Sherjawy to lead and Titus Gent to be up there, may double trade these two but more interested in Titus Gent as think a bigger price will be available and think it is due a big run. Will be plenty of pace on and always good to look for a closer if you're looking for the winner. Style Award could be one that tucks in.

5:20 Kempton Muktasb turned out quickly after the other day , when plenty thought he should have won.Probably be too short for a horse that is consistently played with.Don Pele ran a good race in a claimer the other day to hail a return to form was imminent , likes to lead and usually does his winning around this time of year. Price check here.

Be on tomorrow pre racing ........................

Just unmatched on Marjury , slight dent in profit , thems the breaks.

1:55 Lingfield Brenda Duke BSP 8.23 low IR 7.8

2.25 Lingfield Billy Red BSP 6.16 Won

6:20 Wolverhampton Kieltys Folly BSP 5 low IR 1.8

6:50 Wolverhampton Marjury Daw BSP 8.4 low IR 6.8 unmatched here

8:20 Wolverhampton Mozayada BSP 17.21 low IR 15.5 went down to 11 and just under pre off

On in a bit with Kempton for Sunday think there are only 3.

18:20

Kieltys went as low as 1.8 In Running so job done there, 2 to go for a clean sweep............

Gluck for the rest of the evening will post days results later and have a look at Sunday.............

Price Check

18:20 Wolverhampton Kieltys Folly currently trading at 8.4  have taken this as dont think will drift much.

18:50 Wolverhampton Marjury Daw currently 7 trying for 7.4

20:20 Wolverhampton Mozayada 18 at the moment had a bit of that but could end up any price , keep        snatching what i think is value.

Funny Old Game

While it all goes pear shaped at Newbury i continue to eek out the pennies

So far so good -

1:55 Lingfield Brenda Duke BSP 8.23 low IR 7.8

2.25 Lingfield Billy Red BSP 6.16 Won

Be back with a look at Wolverhampton later

Friday 12 February 2010

A look at Lingfield And Wolverhampton for Saturday

2 from Lingfield and 3 for the evening at Wolverhampton.

1:55 Lingfield One would think Stefanki will be short fav for this one,but with 77 days off and unproven on the surface, my selection for a back to lay here is Brenda Duke back to a mile with the blinkers applied for the first time likes to be up with the pace and should be a workable price.

2:25 Lingfield Billy Red should be the answer here likes to lead has the c&d form and should be a workable price , Indian Skipper should be interesting moving back up to 6f... Price check in the morning.

6:20 Wolverhampton Kieltys Folly has run some of its best races over this distance seems to go well for an amateur and is in good form. Can run both ways . Price check required although these type of races are usually quite competitive.

6:50 Wolverhampton A good comeback after nearly 2 months off over c&d puts Marjury Daw in the frame for a back to lay here. Fairly lightly raced for a 4 year old one would think there is still improvement to come.

8:20 Wolverhampton If i can secure a decent price for Mozayada she will probably be the back to lay here. Usually at the forefront of things has winning  form over further and the likely favourite hasn't won over 7f since 2008, should think this will be factored in.

Remember these are Back to Lays for two points not selections to win ( Although some do)

Hope you all have a successful day - Gluck

Review

Unmatched on two at the prices taken - Shifting Star and Smirfys Systems - not a bad day overall, probably shouldn't have double traded Orpsies race.

1:15 Sothwell  Ten Pole Tudor BSP 10.54 low IR 5.30

1:45 Southwell Eight Hours BSP 5.41 Won Proved correct taking the 6 early doors.

2:55 Southwell Jazrawy BSP 10.3 low IR 3

5:15 Wolverhampton Monsieur Reynard BSP 5.83 low IR 1.78

6:45 Wolverhampton Orpsie Boy BSP 5.47 (trading at 10's on price check) low IR5.60,Shifting Star BSP 11.50 low IR 10 unmatched on this one.

7:45 Wolverhampton Imperial Starlight BSP 7.35 low IR 1.2

8:15 Wolverhampton Smirfys Systems BSP 12.31 low IR 13.5

8:45 Wolverhampton Muktasb as previously mentioned did not play on this one but he still made the two points. BSP 5.40 low IR 3

On later with a look at Saturday...........................

Price Check and Musings

1:15 Southwell Will go with Ten Pole Tudor ( currently 14 on Betfair )here as just feel Special Cuvee running style and the price plus the fact that he  usually finds one too good could go against me.

1:45 Southwell Already on Eight Hours at 6  have a feeling this may shorten.

2:55 Southwell Jazrawy  looking for high 9's / 10 on this one.

Bit too Early for the Wolverhampton prices to be taken will leave this to the bot last minute.

5:15 Wolverhampton Monsieur Reynard currently 7.4 on Betfair

6:45 Wolverhampton Shifting Star and Orpsie Boy both around the 10 mark , will double trade these.

7:45 Wolverhampton  Imperial Skylight currently 7.4

8:15 Wolverhampton Albero Di Giuda a touch short to play , Smirfys Systems currently 12

8:45 Wolverhampton Muktasb at 5 is too short for the trade on his style of running so will leave for now and hope he drifts looking for 8/9

Southwell & Wolverhampton 12 th February

A few for this Afternoon - Backs to lay for 2 points -

1:15 Southwell Granakey should run well , but one i fancy to lead is Ten Pole Tudor has the c&d form and should be a playable price also quite like Special Cuvee usually settles midrace and has been knocking on the door the last few runs.  Price check A.M

1:45 Southwell Will play Eight Hours here in the hope that its fit , a lightly raced sort that was progressive until its last run. We should see improvement this year hoping for 8/9's.

2:55 Southwell An inform Jazrawy could be the answer here likes to race prominently has the c&d form and only failed by 3l to notch the win last time in the same class. Would like 8's before taking the chance here.

5:15 Wolverhampton In Monsieur Reynard we have a horse that can run both ways ,hasn't been far off in his last 5 starts, c&d form and hopefully a decent price. Like to see him prominent from the outset. Price check.

6:45 Wolverhampton With a 9lb turnaround for 1 3/4l with Tourist i will opt for Shifting Star here ran prominently last time, hopefully will take that option again..... a playable price could be doubtful..Interestingly Orpsie Boy , poor run over 7f last time back down in trip is 10 lb better off for 3/4 l and Flowing Cape is 4lb for 1/2 a length. I will stick with Shifting Star for now but Orpsie won't be far off and i would think the prices will reflect this.

7:45 Wolverhampton  Imperial Skylight did the business last time will stick with him again , the class 7 suits likes to be up with the pace. Should get 7+

8:15 Wolverhampton Cannot get away from Albero Di Giuda but is likely to be short, how short ? i'm not sure we will have much to play with. Can Smirfys Systems push him enough upfront to force a price drop i think he could so will take a chance here.Trip Switch also ran well last time. Overall think Albero will be too strong but willing to trade Smirfys.

8:45 Wolverhampton I have been waiting for Muktasb to show a return to some sort of form and although not a prominent racer i am willing to take a chance with this one. 3rd behind Wyatt Earp last time and i feel tonight could be his chance. With Miss Firefly in the race should provide a decent price for Muktasb

Will attemp to get on A.M but am finding it increasingly hard.

Review

A great day really only unmatched in the first and that was down to impatience - trades were made on the rest. Was really happy with the 3:50 run of Taper Jean Girl , couldn't believe the price.

Bumper Issue = Bumper Day

1:50 Southwell Reigning In Rio  BSP 26 low IR 25

2:20 Southwell La Capriosa BSP 7.05 low IR 5.8

3:50 Southwell Taper Jean Girl BSP 12.53 low IR 1.36  Cannot believe it was outsider of the lot.

4:20 Southwell Hits Only Jude BSP 6 low IR 2.28

5:00 Kempton  Davids Mark BSP 20.27 low IR 15 amazed 3/4l 2nd
Sonhador BSP 15.91 low IR 11

6:30 Kempton Cavalry Guard BSP 28.44 low IR 8.20

7:00 Kempton Kings Sabre BSP 7.87 low IR 5

8:00 Kempton Highland Harvest BSP 7 low IR 4.6

Will be on later with a look at tomorrow.

A look forward to Southwell and Kempton

Bumper Issue tonight , hope all goes well for these Backs to Lay

1:50 Southwell A very poor race and in Reigning in Rio we have a prominent racer with c&d form that is fairly unexposed . Hopefully his run over hurdles, although 62 days ago,has put him straight for this his seasonal  reappearance,Should get a decent price on this one.

2:20 Southwell I would think First Swallow will be favourite in this as has had some decent runs lately. From a value point of view i will side with La Capriosa ran well, up with the pace 6 days ago after 3 months off has the c&d form and has won in class 5 ..... Guto also looked to be coming back to form last time out but as a hold up horse i will give him a miss today.

3:50 Southwell They are plumbing the depths today at Southwell. Would think Tiger Hawk will be fav. here and an interesting contender in Springwell Giant may well prove the market mover, but  i will stick with Taper Jean Girl has the c&d form will be up with the pace and was rather well supported last time out over 7f today could be the day.

4:20 Southwell Plenty of pace here , Gaily Noble could quite easily go in again after its large odds win last time my two selections here which i will double trade are Elusive Fame and Hits Only Jude both will add pace to the race also and both have course form so go on the surface. Should get decent prices about the two. Will make a decision in the morning if to double or select either one.

5:00 Kempton Davids Mark and Jessica Wigmo come out best of the 5 that met on the 28 th of January they are both hold up types . I myself cannot see Jessica getting up over 6f and feel  it needs the 7f these days.In Davids Mark i think i have a possible but Sonhador interests me because it can run both ways up with the pace or hold up was favourite for the 28th race ut feel it only just gets home over 6f. Out of the two, head says Davids but my instinct says Sonhador, will look in the morning.

6:30 Kempton Cavalry Guard back down to 7f is the selection in this race , should be about his time now and 7f looks the best trip. Usually races mid field and upwards will be battling hard at the finish. Hope for a good double figure price here.

7:00 Kempton In Kings Sabre we have a prominent racer who seems to have been fiddled about with distance wise , has run some of his best races over 7f and think we may get a bit of value with a few recent winners in the race.

8:00 Kempton Highland Harvest looked on its way back last time and is well upto winning a class 5 , kempton seems to suit and will be up with the pace.Plenty of horses that showed promise last time out so hope for 10+ here.

Will be on in the morning with any updates and a general mull over the prices. Must of been tiring towards the end as wasn't eulogising so much.
